· I was elected President (2003) Vice President (2001) and General Secretary (1997) of the Association of Muslim Social Scientists.

· I am on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences.

Media 

I frequently appear on TV, radio and print media and comment on US foreign policy, Islam and on aspects political philosophy and globalization. I have appeared on CNN, FOX, VOA, NPR, hundreds of times on regional and international radio and television shows. I am a regular commentator, 50-70 commentaries a year, for BCC. I have also written for and have been quoted in hundreds of print media both in the US and globally. I have also been profiled by Washington Post, Newsday, The Daily Telegram, The News Journal and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Editorials have been written about my work in places such as the Los Angeles times and the Boston Globe and several commentators have written about my work.
